THE NITTY GRITTY
DIRT BAND
ONLINE

Jeff Hanna, Bob Carpenter,
Jimmy Ibbotson, Jimmie Fadden

What a combination of talents!!
If you've lost track of them since the 1960's release of "Mr. Bojangles,"
The Dirt Band may surprise you.
"Bang, Bang, Bang," the latest release, is downright addictive.
And their Christmas album , which came out 2 years ago, is one of the best I've ever heard.

 THE ULTIMATE TAXI

Now, THIS is a fun site. One of Aspen's unique attractions, the "Ultimate Taxi" is a veritable multimedia machine on wheels. With writeups in publications such as Newsweek and People, and TV appearances on Regis & Kathie Lee and The Discovery Channel, it's making quite a stir.

The Taxi sports a laptop computer with a wireless T1 connection and digital camera that sends photos of "WHO'S IN THE CAB NOW?!" directly to the taxi's website.

Lots of celebrity shots, naturally... because, well, that's just Aspen. Let me fill you in on a little "Taxi folklore," though.

I knew the Taxi (and its driver, John Barnes) when it was the "only ride in Aspen" to be equipped with a television hooked up to the cigarette lighter. (black and white, 13 inch screen.) Back then, we all thought THAT was cool...needless to say, the Taxi has come a long way.

I recently saw a cab in Newport Beach, CA, adorned with Christmas lights and a booming stereo. As I suspected, he'd been to Aspen once and seen the real thing. But this wanna-be attempt was a weak effort at best.
